According to spanish dictionary, Salvador means "The Savior" or a person who rescues another person. Well, the only rescuing he is current doing in our league is points .., his own points..
He has clearly established himself as the frontrunner with 4 wins our of 4, including defeating 2 other heavyweights , Larry and kelvin , last nite.
Vincent Lee's match with Julian was a battle of who is the fittest, with Vincent establishing a early lead at 4-1 before Julian recoverd. It was 7-7 after more than 1 hour before Julian stood his groud to secure 9-7.. Julian/Vincent: your report.
My match with Larry started on a 1-1 note before Larry raced to a 3-1 lead. I was attacking his backhand deeply and it bore some results. But my serves was not with me this morning as I had zero 1st serves in.. If my serves were working, it would have been a different affair. I had a chance to turn the game at 7-3, when I was leading 40-0 but I allowed Larry to catch up and he eventually beat me after overcoming the deuce. Full marks to Larry, but I will be stepping up my game to a "aggresive mode" as I realise that by playing a "controlled game" you can still lose.. On the other hand by going for winners, you may make errors.. but if your winners outlast your errors... it would still be better. Lesson: need to play according to your personlity profile..
Lai Yong managed to tame Robin purely on fitness. Lai Yong told me after the match , his strategy with Robin was simply to absorb what Robin is giving him time and time.. and it worked.. Again this was Robin's achilles heels. and he had this to say to Lai Yong "9 times of 10 previously I would have beaten you". Unfortunately this was the ONE time that matter and all credit to Lai Yong for playing to his game plan..
Cliff's game with John Ho was a tame affair with Cliff hardly breaking a sweat.. Cliff force all the errors from John although John did hit a few short court winners. Both were NOT using their own rackets, but in the scheme of things , the advantages both even out..
LATEST: Later part In the evening , Larry beat Robin 8-3 in another old rivals clash.
