It was his best performance so far in the SPEX tournaments and we wish him the best for the next rounds. Noah Ho (Robin's son) Jun Jie beat Anton Cheng at 9-6 before losing out to Kevin Mak 9-7 at the 2nd round. It was a close call for Kevin as Jun Jie was leading 7-6 before he lost out on composure. Noah also tried hard but could not match Jabez Chow (his previous nemesis in his last tournament) at 9-7. Both kids are 12 years old this year and showed tremendous talent in their technique. In that match John was matching him closely in the early part of the game and it was pretty close till 2-3. IMO he should have played a little more aggressive like what yours truly did earlier against him in a earlier friendly (yeah it was 6-3 in my favour, but of course he was operating at only 80% then, according to him after the match). Instead John chose to rally against him and Ronny was just feeding back every ball to him like a coach feeding his student.  John was also having difficulty with Ronny's massive kickserve and choosing to block all of them , some of which went "skiving". Well, the only rescuing he is current doing in our league is points .., his own points.. He has clearly established himself as the frontrunner with 4 wins our of 4, including defeating 2 other heavyweights , Larry and kelvin , last nite. Vincent Lee's match with Julian was a battle of who is the fittest, with Vincent establishing a early lead at 4-1 before Julian recoverd. RV Tennis League After a week of competition, a couple of dark horses appear to be the early frontrunners. They are namely Julian and Cliff. Julian has beaten Peter , a early league leader 8-4 on wednesday and also surprisingly tamed League Heavyweight Kelvin Yeo 8-2 to strongly stake his claim for RV tennis league title.  Cliff has also disposed of another League Heavyweight Robin 8-4 and Kelvin in the earlier rounds. Peter in the meantime is sitting pretty on top of the league but having played an additional match in hand. His match with Roland, according to Larry was a extremely closed affair with both parties at 6-6, with Peter catching up earlier, before Roland ran out of steam. Apparently Peter is very fit (but I can't really figure it out with his spare tyre sticking out) and was able to retrieve line hugging balls from Roland all the time. RV Tennis League It was a night where age triumphs (to some extent). In 3 out of 4 matches the older player manages to outgun the younger player. Most notable would be Roland who at 51 years old is the oldest in our group, but hey think you younger lot can beat him, better think again.. Vincent Ho as the 2nd oldest player somehow manages to tame the awesome power of John who at 14 is about one third his age with precise shots.  Cliff who is past 45 (but looking extremely good) perservered and managed to hold off the awesome power of Kelvin. According to Kelvin he had a change of string pattern the night before and he told me he somehow could not get back his feel (which could have affected) his game. The only young gun that lived up to his age on this nite was John Chiam who manages to scrape by yours truly after being held at 6-5 before he broke away.
